President Biden signed legislation to help avert the strike on the railroad that would have devastated the country yet more than what has currently been going on with the economy. Does this mean that the strike is over yes and no? The demands for railroad workers needing paid time off just like everyone else is still needed yet this is one of the items that keep getting pushed away.
The railroad is one of the key shipping carriers in the United States and without it the economy would come to a severe halt. Just like the shipping fiasco of 2021 where the ships were out on the Pacific Ocean waiting to be docked and the trucks waiting to get loaded. The railroad cars not only bring coal, gas, and other needed items for the infrastructure of the country, but items that each of us use everyday such as food, food supplies, and materials. The railroad industry is one of the backbones of our country and without it our country would be stunned. The railroad also brings items like steel and iron that helps with the construction of buildings used every day.
Understanding that this strike means more than just the employees of the railroads but for the health of our economy and how we get our products to the trucking locations such as hot shot trucking services or big semi load each one of the areas of transportation and cargo shipping is valuable to our society and our country. We see on the highway and interstates the many trucks transporting cargo each day to the destination from a manufacturing plant, a farm, or auto dealership. But a lot of times we take for granted the impact of what the transportation industry does until we are faced with problems within the supply chain. We seen how this effected the United States and the whole world when the Covid 19 pandemic hit. So having a strong transportation backbone will make a better and durable transportation and cargo-hauling industry that we can all be proud of and use like we have in the past.
